Kurt Cobain Ruins Date
Minneapolis, MN-Grunge musician Kurt Cobain came back from the grave to ruin a date between University of Minnesota Junior Edmund “Ned” Quinn and Freshman Naomi Raleigh, Saturday.
Quinn and Raleigh who, are both involved in Greek Life at the University of Minnesota, met last week when they both were attended a party at held by [the University’s chapter of] Phi Pi Psi, of which Quinn is a member. After striking up a conversation earlier in the evening, Quinn asked Raleigh out on a date.
“The date was going very well. We were both having a fun time. Everything was great, until Kurt Cobain reared his ugly head,” said Quinn and Raleigh in a joint statement.
“We had eaten at a nice restaurant and had just finished watching [Paramount Picture’s recent release] ‘The Weather Man‘,” Raleigh said in a telephone interview Sunday.
After attending the 8:30 showing of “The Weather Man” at the Crown Block E 15 Cinemas, Quinn and Raleigh left the movie theater to return to Campus. The situation was calm and normal when Quinn and Raleigh arrived at the house of Alpha Delta Sigma, of which Raleigh is a member. Little did they know that horror would soon strike, as they sat in Quinn’s parked 1978 American Motors Gremlin, with the car’s radio turned to “Cities 97” KTCZ.
“We had just started making-out and then a song came on the radio. The intro sounded familiar, but I couldn‘t quite place it,” Quinn explained at a Press conference Sunday afternoon, unaware of the horror that would strike only moments later.
Shortly after the music, that Quinn failed to identify, began he heard the voice of the late Kurt Cobain begin to sing. As soon as had Cobain sung, “Rape me”, the opening lyrics to Nirvana’s song of the same name, any chance that Quinn had of engaging in sexual intercourse with Raleigh disappeared.
“As soon as it sunk in what song was playing, he pushed me off her, opened her door and ran inside crying,” Quinn said, concluding his remarks before taking questions from reporters.
It is unknown whether Raleigh and Quinn will go out on a second date. Quinn said he is interested in continuing the relationship, while Raleigh has declined to comment.
This is not the first time that a song played by a radio station at an inconvienient time has ruined a date for Quinn. In mid October, a date ended in disaster as the song “Date-Rape”, by the band Sublime, began to play as he and his date, Michelle Bloomquist, a junior, began making-out.
Quinn has also had dates ruined by The Bloodhound Gang’s “The Bad Touch”, Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer”, and Color Me Badd’s “I Wanna Sex You Up”.
Quinn has appealed to Philip Swenson; KTCZ’s programming manager to refrain from playing songs of an overtly sexual manners during the hours of 8-12 on Fridays and Saturdays to prevent such incidents from re-occurring.

Something on your mind?
Only that I hadn't written an article in forever.

Wow, I think music is the least of his worries.
